Today, I heartily endorse Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Nominee to become the next President of the United States.   She is the most capable of, and most passionately committed towards, continuing to build a strong and prosperous America that is shared by all of its citizens.

It is not simply her unprecedented breadth of experience – serving as Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, and First Lady — that Hillary Clinton brings to the table as a candidate.   Even more importantly it is her lifetime commitment to everyday Americans and to our nation’s children as a tireless advocate for early childhood education, family and medical leave, and expanded health care coverage that make her uniquely qualified to lead our country.

I am particularly heartened by Hillary’s call for tackling student loan debt, a major concern of my middle class constituents and an issue I have championed since arriving in Congress.  Now exceeding all other categories of consumer debt, student loan debt continues to serve as a headwind thwarting our economy from moving forward at full speed.   Also important has been Secretary Clinton’s willingness to explore a change in the excise tax on high cost health plans, a sword that dangles over the heads of my middle class constituents, and threatens to undo some of the extraordinary progress passage of the Affordable Care Act has made for our nation.

I look forward to campaigning with and for Hillary Clinton as she makes history and builds on the historic progress of Barack Obama’s two terms as our Commander in Chief.
