"Courtney is a bright, energetic and hard-working member of Congress who has earned another term." Hartford Courant, 10/25/2012

Hartford Courant – By Stephen Singer – April 21st, 2016

A subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee authorized two Virginia class submarines for next year at a cost of about $3.35 billion and $1.4 billion to develop and design the Ohio replacement program. The Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces also restored $85 million that will help prevent production delays and ensure the on-time availability of new submarines.

It’s the start of a long budget process in Congress. Rep. Joe Courtney, the ranking Democrat on the subcommittee, said he believes the funding will not be altered as it moves to the full Armed Services Committee and to the Senate.

“So far, our batting average has been pretty good,” he said. “The draft has survived.”
