Thank You

November 3, 2010

Dear Friend:

Last night, I was honored and humbled to be elected to a third term representing the people of eastern Connecticut in Congress.  This victory did not happen by accident – it was the result of four years of focused attention to the needs of this district, and the tremendous help I have received from supporters like you.

Thank you.

You and I both know that this year’s election was one of the most challenging for incumbents in recent history.  But with your help, we made this a positive race about what we have done to improve the lives of the people of this district – not about national talking points and negative attacks.

If you couldn’t join us last night in Norwich, please click here for coverage of our victory.

Right now, there are people working hard on factory floors, in restaurants, in hospital emergency rooms. There are people getting ready for their next shift, there are teachers planning for the next lesson.  They believe in the future, and all they ask for is that they have a congressman who understands how hard they are working and who is there for them.

I pledge to you today that I will continue to be there for the people of eastern Connecticut and work hard every day on your behalf.

There is a lot of hard work left to do and new challenges following the results of last night’s election.  It has been said that “tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”    That describes this district that I am so privileged to serve – and I am confident that together, we will weather the challenges – and opportunities – ahead.

Thank you, again, for your support.
